Electric stim uses electrical pulses that help stimulate nerves and muscles which can help reduce pain. Depending on the patient, Dr. Stef, may incorporate light exercise or movements during the stim treatment. This provides additional benefits like increased blood flow to the injured area while moving naturally.
During electrical stim treatment, the muscles and nerves are stimulated to increase blood flow to the injured area. This additional blood flow can help accelerate healing while reducing pain and inflammation. This form of therapy is also known to help improve range of motion if your muscles are tense. In our chiropractic office, we utilize the Phoenix Waveform device since it’s a product we trust to help our patients recover through electrical stim treatment.
During the treatment, you will feel a pulsing sensation in your muscles, but it is a painless form of therapy. Dr. Stef will work with you to find the setting that will bring the greatest muscle activation, while still being comfortable. Once the treatment is over, the pulsing sensations will subside.
